September Iowa Quiltscape: Fiber Art Now – Excellence in Quilts 2022

We’re at the end of September and gearing up for the Covered Bridge Festival taking place this October 8 & 9, here in Winterset, Iowa. Every year we haul our big quilted barn from upstairs and set it up for a fun activity. This year we’re making simple ornaments by hand.

It was so much fun to see everyone who came to the area for the AQS show in the middle of the month. We really enjoyed all of the quilters coming to visit and truly appreciate your support in promoting the American quilt. We also hope you were able to take in the DMAQG Quilt Show Sept. 22-24 at the Rastetter 4-H Building at the Iowa State Fair grounds! Des Moines quilters are terrific supporters of the IQM.”

Seeing Marti Michell’s quilts these past few months was a true delight! We hate to see them go but we’re just as excited to change things up and see our new exhibit Fiber Art Now: Excellence in Quilts.

Happy Quilting,

Carissa

Opening Day for Fiber Art Now – Excellence in Quilts 2022

September 27 – December 28, 2022

Today is the first day of our new exhibit called Fiber Art Now: Excellence in Quilts 2022. This exhibit showcases the winners of Fiber Art Now’s call for quilts in 2022. These 27 studio art quilts were chosen from hundreds of submissions by juror Nancy Bavor. Bavor is a quilt appraiser, curator, and lecturer, and most recently the director emerita of San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. The chosen quilts are of original design that show inventiveness and mastery of techniques.

Visit us from now until December 18 to experience these winning quilts and the role they play in our American heritage.
