Mary, along with her husband, calls the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia home, where in 2022, she established her own quilting retreat. Her most recent books are “Twisted: Modern Quilts with a Vintage Twist,” “Southern Quilts,” and “The Art of Make-Do Quilting.” These books showcase her ability to seamlessly blend tradition with innovation.

Mary will guide us through topics such as repair, restoration, conservation, and the profound appreciation we hold for the textiles entrusted to our care.
Attendees are invited to bring their own vintage quilts to share and discuss, if time allows. Whether you join Mary at a workshop, explore her insightful books, or witness her inspiring exhibits, this lecture promises to deepen your understanding and connection to the rich world of quilting.
Saving Our Treasures Workshop – $75 per person
Thursday, June 6, 2024 – 1 PM to 5 PM
Learn the basics of restoration, conservation and repair of antique quilts. The workshop will include discussion and trunk show of historical repairs. The hands-on portion will cover basic repairs, restoration techniques, conservation, rescue tips and the recreation of patterns that are damaged beyond repair.
Kit Fee: A conservation kit is required and can be purchased directly from the instructor for $10.
