Events At The Museum

We’re excited to offer four Barn Quilt Painting Classes this fall at the Iowa Quilt Museum:

Saturday September 13th 1pm – 5pm

Sunday September 14th 1pm – 5pm

Saturday October 25th 1pm – 5pm

Sunday October 26th 1pm – 5pm

You’ll receive a 2×2 ft sanded and primed board with your choice of design—18 options to pick from—plus access to 25 exterior paint colors to create your own custom palette.

All supplies provided—just wear old clothes or bring an apron!
Cost: $100 (pay at the door)

Join us for a special evening with quilt historian and appraiser Julie Silber, as she shares insights into Mama’s Got the Blues—a stunning exhibit of indigo blue and white quilts dating back to the early 19th century. This remarkable collection was first begun by Julie’s mother, and lovingly expanded by Julie herself. Don’t miss this chance to hear the stories behind the stitches and gain a deeper appreciation for the artistry and history of these timeless quilts.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to spend a morning with Julie Silber, one of the world’s most respected quilt experts. Julie is a renowned appraiser, historian, and collector who has been buying, selling, and curating antique quilts since 1968. She has worked with museums, collectors, and individuals around the world, and is co-author of the acclaimed books Hearts and Hands and Amish: The Art of the Quilt.

In this special trunk show, Julie will share treasures from her collection, along with the fascinating stories, history, and artistry behind them. It’s a chance to see remarkable quilts up close and learn from one of the foremost authorities in the field.

We’re hosting a free Stitch In At The Museum to bring together fellow creators. Bring any project that doesn’t require a machine and pull a chair up to the table.

This event is FREE!! No need to register just show up and stitch with us!
