2027 Iowa Quilt Festival

Join us in Winterset for the 2027 Iowa Quilt Festival! Four days celebrating quilts, creativity, and community in beautiful Madison County! Festival activities run June 9–11. They lead to our signature event, the Airing of the Quilts, on Saturday, June 12.
The Festival brings quilters and quilt lovers together for a quilt retreat, classes, programs, exhibits, and shopping. There are plenty of opportunities to connect with others who share a love of quilting.
Kick Off the Festival with a Bus Trip!
We are hoping to once again kick off Festival week with a bus trip on Tuesday, June 8. Before moving forward with plans, we need to know there is enough interest. Once we have at least 25 people interested, we will begin planning the trip and make ticket information available.

Airing of the Quilts — Saturday, June 12
The Festival concludes with one of our favorite annual traditions, the Airing of the Quilts, a county-wide celebration of quilts held throughout Winterset and Madison County.
On Saturday, June 12, quilts will transform the community into a quilt lover’s destination. In downtown Winterset, quilts will cascade from the porticos of the historic Madison County Courthouse, while quilt turnings on beds placed around the courthouse give visitors the opportunity to see even more beautiful quilts up close.
Displays will continue throughout the community and countryside, including some of Madison County’s iconic covered bridges, local parks, businesses, churches, wineries, the cidery, and other special locations. It is a wonderful opportunity to explore Madison County while discovering quilts around every corner.
The Airing of the Quilts will feature a combination of free outdoor displays and ticketed indoor exhibits. Indoor locations throughout the county will showcase quilts from guilds, individual artists, and special collections. We will finalize the 2027 plans and announce the participating venues and featured collections.
Registered ticket holders will begin their day at the Iowa Quilt Museum, where they will pick up their event map and information for all participating quilt locations. Admission to the museum and our current exhibit will also be included with Airing of the Quilts admission.
More Quilts to See
The Covered Bridge Quilters, Madison County’s local quilt guild, traditionally hold their annual quilt show during Festival week. Their show is a separate event with separate admission and offers another opportunity to enjoy beautiful quilts and the work of local quilters. Details for their 2027 show will be shared as they become available.
2027 Tickets
Ticket options and pricing for the 2027 Airing of the Quilts will be announced as Festival plans are finalized. We anticipate offering options similar to previous years, including admission to the Airing of the Quilts, a combination ticket with the Covered Bridge Quilters Show, and a Premium experience.
Whether you spend the week enjoying like minded quilters at our retreat, taking classes, exploring downtown Winterset, driving the scenic roads to our covered bridges, discovering quilt displays throughout the county, or doing a little bit of everything, the 2027 Iowa Quilt Festival is a celebration of quilting in the heart of Iowa.
