Whatcha doin’ up there?

You may recall that, last fall and winter, we were raising funds to complete necessary repairs and renovations to the second-story of our historic building. Thanks to the generosity of over one hundred donors, we were able to secure almost $40,000 in funds to complete that work! Throughout that entire process, the most common question we encountered was, “what are you planning to do with that space.” So, here’s a peek at some of the ways we’ve been using our second floor now that the renovations are complete!

Every quilt in the Quilted Garden exhibit was photographed for the Virtual Gallery Tour (see below!) Soon, we’ll be using the space to prepare the quilts for “40 x 40 @ 40”
On May 2nd, we hosted 18 local 4H students in our very first ‘how to’ quilt class! We also have a group of yoga practitioners that meets in the space several times a week.
We’re in the process of photographing all of the items that will be offered in our annual auction. See our handiwork by visiting the online auction catalog.

Thank you to Sujata Shah!

Today twenty-two students from across the country participated in a virtual class with Sujata Shah and learned how to make freestyle Peppermint Pinwheels! It was a wonderful learning opportunity. We’re thankful to Sujata for sharing her time with us, and to all who joined us for the class. Some fabulous quilts will come from this!

Virtual Gallery Tour Admission

We sincerely hope that you’ll be able to visit us at the Iowa Quilt Museum to see our current exhibit of botanical beauties. If, however, you’re not ready to travel, or if you’re just too far away, you can take advantage of our Virtual Gallery Tour Admission.

The virtual gallery tour video features high resolution photos of each quilt accompanied by narration of the exhibit descriptions. The video is available for purchase in our online store for $6, the price of single in-person admission. Just like in-person admission to the museum, this is intended as a ‘single person’ purchase except that you can view it as many times as you want!

If you would like to discuss the possibility of a guild or group presentation, please contact us at: director@IowaQuiltMuseum.org

You will receive an email from the Iowa Quilt Museum within two business days of your purchase with instructions for accessing the private video.

If you are an Annual Member of the Iowa Quilt Museum, you can receive a complimentary copy of the virtual gallery walk in lieu of your free admission to this exhibit. Simply email us to request that: director@IowaQuiltMuseum.org.
