A Community-wide Colorfest!
June 5, 2021
The Madison County Airing of the Quilts celebrates the history, tradition, and artistry of quilting in Iowa! Hundreds of quilts are displayed in dozens of historical and cultural landmarks across our picturesque county. This unique event is one that you don’t want to miss!
Exhibit Your Quilts
If you’re a quilter in Iowa, we’d LOVE to exhibit your quilts. This year we’re seeking Black & White Quilts for a specific display area. There are other display opportunities as well.
It requires over 80 volunteers throughout the day to create this amazing event. But, each volunteer needs only to give an hour or two of their time. Share a small portion of your day with us!
Nominate a Quilter
Do you know someone in your community who is an exceptional quilter? Nominate them to display quilts in either a bed-turning display or in one of our famous covered bridges.
Donate to the ‘Live’ Quilt Auction
Each year, our annual quilt auction includes a wide variety of vintage and contemporary quilts, plus quilt-related items and experiences. This year’s auction will be held in both online and in-person format. Donations to our quilt auction, may qualify as a tax-deductible gift. If you have a quilt to donate for the auction, contact Museum Director, Megan Barrett: director@IowaQuiltMuseum.org.
Donate to the Silent Auction
New this year is our IOWA STAR BLOCK SILENT AUCTION. We’re looking for your creative interpretation of the classic Iowa Star Block. Visitors to the Airing of the Quilts will get a chance to marvel at your creativity and your work will benefit the Iowa Quilt Museum, too! Win-Win.
Make your block whatever size you want, in any style you want, using any technique(s) you want. Mail it to us before May 25th so that we can photograph it and prepare it for the auction. (Be sure to label your work somehow!)
